Natures Genius

The challenge was to use that color palette and your punches. I made the flowers yesterday using my cricut cart Walk in my garden. I used my Prisma pencils to give it some depth and I cut the petals into thin strips and curled them. I love how this one turned out. The picture was taken by me :) over at Mitchell State Park.

Just a few photos to share...

Just a few pictures to share that I took on our walk. I have been busy working on another mini album for my son. I made him an album back in May for his birthday of all his graduation pictures from Fire School and the department he is in now. I mailed it 6 weeks ago and he hasn't recieved it..apparently it got lost in the mail. So now I'm back to making a new one. Sad thing is a lot of the stuff that went in the first one were one of a kind memorabilia. I'm just so bummed he didn't get it.

I do have some awesome news to share, but I can not post it until tomorrow. Stay tuned t see what it is..;P

Hope you enjoy the pictures.
hugs,
Mary

Masculine Birthday Card...

Hope this post finds you all well & happy. Today was another very warm day here in South Carolina. The heat Index was 108 and the temp was 98...talk about melting. LOL We are still trying to adjust to the weather. Our summers on Mackinac Island hardly ever got over 80 and we always had a cool breeze off the water, so this humid weather is very different for us. We are missing our daily walks to the nature preserve...so today we ventued off to the mall and walked around for a couple hours. When we got back I went up to my scraproom and cleaned out my scrap drawer and organized it into patterns and solids..sure does make it easier to use them up. How do you keep your scraps? Would love to get some feed back on that. I think i'm going to buy 6 shallow baskets to put them in, that way I don't have to go digging through to find the colors I want.I even ended up making a card after going through all those scraps. I had to make a birthday card for JC's nephew. I have such a hard time making cards for men...but this one came together fast. I love when that happens.

Proud To Serve....

How was everyones day today? It was another VERY HOT day here..heat index was 115 and you guessed it ...I stayed in the air conditioning today and played in my scraproom. This is a Layout I made to honor my son who is a Fireman.I altered the overlay by painting it gold around the edges and painted the lettering...I also added gold to the edges of the black lettering and the matt.

I stamped and used my Prisma Watercolor Pencils to color the envelope flap to match the card I made a few days ago.

God Bless The USA!

These pictures are of my Dad when he was in the Korean War. I carried the one on the bottom right around forever..it's a bit tattered and torn, but still one of my favorite pictures of him.
I made the stars using my Cricut Expression and Plantin Schoolbook Cart. I painted them with Tim Holtz's Distress Crackel Paint in Vintage Photo. I saw a tutorial over on Scrapbook & Cards Today to make these..They were so easy! This was for a challenge over at CTS. I distressed the sides using a wet q-tip and my big scissors, then inked them with my distress ink.
The sketch & color combination is for a challenge over at The Color Room.

Coloring Book Card....

I made this card for a group I joined over at SNR. This was the post:

(My 6 yo loves to get mail, but rarely does. I mean, what kid does, right? About a year ago, I started sending her mail from a "secret friend." It's usually a card I make and sometimes I slip little things into them. She got one today and nearly jumped out of her skin she was so excited.

It got me thinking. A lot of us have kids who would love to get mail. What if we make cards and send them to each others kids?

Let me know if you're interested and I'll set it up. The best thing to do is have everything sent to SNR. I'll collect the names and addresses of the kids and then send each kid a card. This way they'll get them around the same time and if by chance we have a couple people who aren't able to send them on time, one of us can make a couple in a jiffy.

Any takers? If so, put your name down and let me know how many kids you have and if you want to have all of them get cards or just one group card. If you have 3 kids and want each to get a card, then you'll need to send 3 cards and I'll pass them on to either a family with 3 kids or a couple families or if we have extra, I'll take them over to Mott's kids hospital here in Ann Arbor.)

I combined this with the SNB Creative Chicks Challenge.I decided to carry the card one step further and I made a coloring book out of it as you can see I made it so that the coloring pages can be taken off. I really like how it turned out.
